Piano Weekend is back!

With another highly successful Coffee Concert Series coming to an end, we stage our Piano Weekend on 19th and 20th May. For the fourth year in a row, we hire a grand piano for the weekend with the help of Chafes Hague Lambert and put on 3 concerts in less than 24 hours.

We start with a free Children’s Concert at 2pm on Saturday 19th featuring local piano and cello students aged from 5. This year’s theme is “Nature in all her music”. The music performed will represent animals, rivers, weather, and seasons.

At 7.30pm that evening, we are very pleased to present an evening of Jazz Classics with the Jim Muirhead Quartet. Jim is the Halle Orchestras long serving bass clarinettist and at times he lets down his hair, picks up his saxophone and explores jazz music from the Dave Brubeck/Oscar Peterson era. Jim is always keen to encourage young jazz musicians and in addition to his son, Ben on double bass, he has Elliott Sansom on piano. In 2016 Elliott was a finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year awards and is an exciting and emerging talent. There is a licensed bar from 7pm and at the interval. Tickets are £15, details are on our website.

On Sunday 20th at 11am we change the mood and hear piano trios by Mozart and Brahms performed by Caroline Pether (violin), Dale Culliford (cello) and Paul Janes (piano). Book early for this final Coffee Concert of the series. We still have a few tickets available priced at £14 , including coffee and delicious cake.
