Qigong and Meditation for Health

 

Mondays, 7:00 – 8:00 pm

Treat yourself to a relaxing hour of attentive postural alignment, natural breathing, gentle movement and calm mindful awareness. Qigong (alternatively spelled chi gung or chi kung, and pronounced ‘chee kung’) is a form of gentle holistic exercise, originating in ancient China, which coordinates mind, body and breath to promote health, wellbeing and vitality. This class is meditative, calming and relaxing, aiming to: relieve stress; improve postural awareness; mindfully, naturally and gently mobilise all joints and connective tissues; promote physical, mental and emotional balance; develop the ability to concentrate; encourage improved coordination; and develop overall health promoting fitness without strain. Qigong and meditation are proven to help with many chronic health conditions, and this class is designed to be accessible, safe and effective for most people.

  • Colin Hughes has been instructing exercise for health classes for over 30 years, and for the past 15 years has focused on teaching tai chi, qigong and meditation for health in university and local community settings.
  • Doors open at 06:50 pm and participants are encouraged to come early for a prompt start at 07:00 pm.
