Margaret Ritchie | Chair |
Following a career in Probation and Social Work, latterly working with people at the end of life and their professionals and carers, Margaret had a period of working as a self-sufficient allotment holder/renovator in France, before coming to live in New Mills. She began volunteering at Spring Bank Arts soon after it was opened as a venue, working mainly on the door. She became a Trustee in 2014. Speaking about the Centre, Margaret says "it is wonderful to see the pleasure the Centre, and all its volunteers and paid staff, bring to the community, whether it be its main function of putting on events or the weekly classes in wellbeing, art or shared activities in the U3A" adding "the trustees are always looking for new volunteers to help us to maintain the work of the Centre". |
Gillian Tomlinson | Vice Chair |
Gillian worked as the Centre's administrator in the early days of Spring Bank Arts before moving to a volunteering role and becoming a Trustee in 2018. "Being part of Spring Bank Arts is a great pleasure for me" Gillian says" adding she has "seen this beautiful building blossom into a valuable community asset which is brilliant". Gillian encourages everyone to visit the Centre and to put forward suggestions of what they would like to see being put on at the Centre. |
Alex Bond | Treasurer | Alex has been involved in Spring Bank Arts for over a decade, initially serving behind the bar. He became a Trustee in 2019 and is now Treasurer. He also designs our posters and social media images. |
Jane Cocking | Secretary | Jane has been a Trustee at since 2020. Her experience in the charity sector has been invaluable. She has played a key role in developing the Centre's Policies. |
Paul Sharp | Paul is our resident folk music enthusiast, he also doubles as a great technical advisor and lead technician. He has been a Trustee since 2020. | |
Liz Treacy | Liz has volunteered at Spring Bank Arts for a number of years, notably serving drinks on the bar at Film Club. She became a Trustee in 2024. | |
Peter Gardner |
A retired Architect, and a keen artist, Peter, who became a Trustee in 2020, provides support on all things building related. He also runs a weekly life drawing session at Spring Bank Arts. |

Dale Culliford |
Dale is well-known to Spring Bank Arts audiences as the organiser of the Coffee Concerts that take place each spring. She has been a Trustee since 2018. Formally a full-time member of the Hallé Orchestra, she is still an active cellist professionally, playing chamber music and teaching pupils of all ages. She also enjoys walking in the beautiful Peak District. |
