An Eleven Piece Band

On Saturday March 11th Spring Bank Arts in New Mills welcomes a new and exciting sound – Radio Memphis and the Mississippi Horns.  This is an eleven piece outfit, complete with singer, who play vintage Southern Rock and Soul music. It comprises seasoned musicians drawn from across the High Peak with a BIG sound.  The performance starts at 7.30 pm with Spring Bank’s celebrated licensed bar opening at 7.00 pm especially selling Torrside ales. A great evening is promised.

 

Stax Label Soul         

Radio Memphis and The Mississippi Horns play authentic arrangements of the classic “‘Rock ‘n’ Soul” sounds that came out of the southern states of America in the 1960s and 1970s. The band’s “Vintage Southern Rock ‘n’ Soul” sound includes classic STAX label Memphis soul, Texas blues, Louisiana Swamp Funk and a sprinkling of Southern Rock, including Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Dusty Springfield, James Brown, Otis Redding, J J Cale and Lynyrd Skynyrd, amongst many others.
